Ways to Get Involved for MLK Jr Day in Springtown
If you're looking for something to do to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy- here are some events going on tomorrow-
We're going to try to attend all of them. Join us if you'd like!
All the events are free and open to the public.
The schedule:
• The MLK March will begin at the Mediacom Ice Park, 635 East Trafficway, with marchers gathering at 9:30 a.m. The march should start between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m., heading west on East Trafficway to Kimbrough-Benton Avenue, then north across the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge to Central Street and the auditorium at Central High School.
• The MLK Celebration Rally is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. at Central High School. Winners of the MLK essay contest, sponsored by the Mayor’s Commission on Human Rights and the Springfield NAACP, will be honored and read their essays.
• The Springfield Multicultural Festival will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts at John Q. Hammons Parkway and Cherry Street. For the 12th year, the festival will feature multi-ethnic music and other performances. The festival is sponsored by Unite of Southwest Missouri.
