Ways to Get Involved for MLK Jr Day in Springtown


If you're looking for something to do to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy- here are some events going on tomorrow-
We're going to try to attend all of them. Join us if you'd like!

All the events are free and open to the public.
The schedule:

The MLK March will begin at the Mediacom Ice Park, 635 East Trafficway, with marchers gathering at 9:30 a.m. The march should start between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m., heading west on East Trafficway to Kimbrough-Benton Avenue, then north across the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge to Central Street and the auditorium at Central High School.

The MLK Celebration Rally is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. at Central High School. Winners of the MLK essay contest, sponsored by the Mayor’s Commission on Human Rights and the Springfield NAACP, will be honored and read their essays.

The Springfield Multicultural Festival will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts at John Q. Hammons Parkway and Cherry Street. For the 12th year, the festival will feature multi-ethnic music and other performances. The festival is sponsored by Unite of Southwest Missouri.
